Visiting Alsace
Alsace my Province. The history of Alsace is ancient ( http://flagspot.net/flags/fr-al.html ) There are plenty of things to do and above all to see, between Strasbourg, Sélestat, Colmar and Mulhouse. The region is close to 2 countries, Germany and Switzerland. Depending on your interests, you can survey the Route des Vins, straddling the 2 departments of the Rhine (High - and Low -). In appreciation of your journey, you cross a multitude of small (and less small) picturesque villages all over each other as the Regional Natural Park of Vosges du Nord, Kirrwiller music hall and the Royal Palace ", Woerth and Museum of the Battle of Reichshoffen (Franco Prussian war of 1870), and Schoenenbourg his visit to the Maginot Line, Saverne and its rose garden and the castle of the High Barr, Daventry and Potiers, Strasbourg and the cathedral, Petite France, visits over the water on the River Ill, various museums, including the inevitable museum Alsatian (for my taste), Andlau and its medieval castle, Mont Sainte Odile (patron saint of Alsace) and " Pagan Wall, the Palace of the High Koenigsbourg, the inner Ried if you are passionate about nature, to explore on foot and by boat, the silver mines of Ste Marie aux Mines, Colmar, its museums and its "little Venice "Kaysersberg, Munster, and its Neuf-Brisach's seventeenth century fortifications built by Vauban, the Vosges summits between Colmar and Mulhouse, sites of fighting in 1914/1918, Mulhouse and its museums and the Autombile des Chemins de Fer, etc. ... The region is very well endowed with means of transport such as trains and buses, excluding the "thumbs up". The Alsatians are people first of a slightly gruff, but if you earn their trust, they have the heart on the hand. Do not laugh at their German accent, although sometimes understanding is a bit difficult. They claim and are not just proud! Various types of accommodation available, of course, camping, hostels, guest rooms (Homes), hotels ... Depending on your interests, I can get more info allowing you to make your trip a success, so do not hesitate to contact me through Qassia. I was born in the city of Mulhouse but grew in a small town called Raedersheim (doesn’t sound very French). I do go back once a year. There is so much to see in Alsace that it would take me a few pages to describe it all. Food-Wines-Museums-Wine festivals-and more.. |
