Stop Killing the whales
Does one have to kill whales to study them? With all the technology shown in science magazines and documentaries… I don’t think it is necessary! Japan is using that pretext or one should say excuse to carry on hunting these becoming rare sea creatures. Although the International Whaling Commission adopted a global moratorium on commercial whaling from 1985, Japan awards itself quotas under Article VIII of the International Convention on the Regulation of Whaling ( http://www.iwcoffice.org/ ) to carry out “scientific” whaling. It's hypocrisy! Japanese are known for being big whale meat consumers. But one must not forget Norway which is the other country to carry on hunting whales. Some scientists believe that global warming may affect the whale population too. ( http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2001/08/0801_wirewhales2.html ) The statistics are clear. The whale population is decreasing at high speed! Stop killing Whales!
